Our Mission

Second Chances Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of drug overdose and substance use. Through education, prevention, and compassionate community support, we work to promote understanding, reduce stigma, and help save lives while creating pathways toward healing, hope, and second chances.

Why This Matters

Why This Matters •

Drug overdose continues to affect families, schools, and communities across the nation. Behind every statistic is a real person — a son, daughter, sibling, friend, or loved one whose life mattered deeply.

For many people, addiction is part of the story. For others, tragedy can happen in ways no one expects. These realities remind us that overdose prevention, education, and open conversations are more important than ever.

The loss of a loved one leaves a lasting impact on families and communities. It brings grief, unanswered questions, and a pain that no family should have to endure. Yet from that pain can come purpose — a commitment to raise awareness, support others, and work toward preventing future tragedies.

Second Chances Foundation was created from that commitment. We believe that awareness saves lives, education can reduce risk, and compassion can help break the stigma that too often surrounds substance use and loss.

By sharing knowledge, encouraging honest conversations, and connecting people with support and resources, we hope to help build safer, more understanding communities.

Because every life matters.
And every life deserves the chance for hope, healing, and a second chance.

Drug overdose is a national public health crisis affecting tens of thousands of lives each year.

Drug overdose is a national public health crisis affecting tens of thousands of lives each year.

  • Overdose deaths in the U.S. rose dramatically over the last decade, reaching a peak of over 109,000 deaths in one year.

  • Even with recent improvements, tens of thousands of Americans still die each year from overdose.

  • Provisional data suggests around 80,000 deaths in 2024, and early estimates show around 72,000 deaths in 2025.

  • The highest overdose death rates occur in adults 25–44, overlapping with student, recent graduates, and young professionals.

  • Behind every number is a real person and a real family affected.

  • This shows progress, but the crisis is far from over.

Our Initiatives

Second Chances Foundation is committed to taking meaningful action through education, awareness, and community support.

  • Community Education
Providing educational information and hosting community conversations that raise awareness about the risks of substance use and drug overdose. Through open dialogue and accessible resources, we aim to help individuals and communities better understand prevention and the importance of early intervention.

  • Youth Awareness
Engaging students and young adults through partnerships with schools, universities, and youth organizations. By creating safe spaces for conversation and education, we hope to empower young people with knowledge that can help them make informed and safer decisions.

  • Overdose Prevention
Promoting awareness about the risks of overdose and sharing prevention resources that can help save lives. This includes encouraging awareness of warning signs, supporting harm reduction education, and connecting communities with helpful information and resources.

  • Family Support
Encouraging compassion and understanding for families affected by addiction, recovery, and loss. Our goal is to help foster a community where those impacted feel supported, heard, and not alone in their journey toward healing.

Community & Partnerships

Second Chances Foundation aims to build partnerships with schools, universities, and community organizations to raise awareness and strengthen overdose prevention efforts.

As we begin this important work, we are proud to have established early partnerships with the Filipino Student Association at the University of North Florida and Breakaway Music Festival.

In Loving Memory • Forever Our Guiding Light •

In Loving Memory • Forever Our Guiding Light •

This foundation was created in loving memory of our son, Vincent, whose life was taken by an overdose in April 2025. Vincent was not someone who struggled with addiction — he was a young man with a bright future, a family who loved him deeply, and a life that should still be here today.

Losing him showed us how fragile life can be and how urgently our communities need greater awareness, compassion, and prevention. The pain of losing Vincent is the reason this foundation exists. Through this work, we hope to help others find the support, understanding, and second chances that he never had.

We carry his memory with us in every step of this mission.
